The Festival & 5K is the major, annual fundraising event for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma.  F
unds raised help the organization accomplish its goals through programs such as microwave-based cooking classes for teens and adults with Down syndrome, free private tutoring and speech therapy for children and adults with Down syndrome, distribution of new parent packets, parent and educator workshops, parent to parent support group meetings and scholarships to the National Down Syndrome Congress annual convention. All money raised stays in the central Oklahoma area to fund the various services, programs, workshops and events supported by DSACO.
The Down Syndrome Festival & 5K will be held on October 5th, 2019, at the Myriad Gardens. This year is our 25th walk to bring awareness to the 21st chromosome! The day begins each year with a 5K at 8 a.m. The 5K is followed by an Awareness Walk at 9:30 a.m. and then the Festival begins on the Devon Lawn and Sheridan Lawn just north of the Crystal Bridge. The Festival is free and open to the public, and includes a petting zoo, carnival games, moon bounces, face painting and more! We can hardly wait to celebrate with you on October 5, 2019 at the Myriad Botanical Gardens!

If you are running in the 5K, please arrive at least 30 minutes early so you have enough time to park and arrive at the starting line on the corner of Sheridan Avenue and Hudson Avenue.
Packet pickup for the 5K will take place on Thursday, October 3rd from 12-5 p.m. and Friday, October 4th from 11 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the DSACO Office (521 W. Wilshire Blvd. Suite 130). You are welcome to send a representative in your place to pick up your packet. One person may pick up several packets for multiple people. If you are unable to pick up your packet either of these days, you can do so the morning of the race beginning at 7 a.m. We STRONGLY suggest that you pick up your packet ahead of time because the morning of the race there will be long lines as many people register for the race the morning of.
Please park at the American Parking lot on Reno and Harvey as parking is FREE. Please email if you have any questions and thank you again for supporting DSACO's mission to "raise awareness and provide resources, as well as promote acceptance and inclusion for people with Down syndrome."
